Choosing the Right Grinder for Your Small Coffee Maker

For people that have an understanding of great coffee, they know that one of the most important aspects in the brewing process is a proper grind. It’s not enough to simply purchase ground beans from your local coffee chain, nor does it make sense to grind your beans at home with an inferior grinder. Truly great coffee must be ground carefully, using a conical burr type grinder. The following article will make a case for the use of a burr style grinder and will serve to educate you on the importance of grind size and consistency.

The three most important aspects of brewing drip coffee in your best small coffee machine are the temperature of the brew water, bean freshness and the quality of the grind. Although it’s somewhat more difficult to control the freshness of the beans, it’s very possible to influence the grind quality by purchasing a conical burr grinder. There is one key difference that sets the burr grinder apart from the less desirable blade or whirly bird grinder, which is the mechanism that performs the grind. A burr grinder uses a moving grinding wheel to grind the beans against a non-movable surface, creating a uniform grind. On the contrary, a blade grinder pulverizes the beans into many different sized particles, including a fair amount of dust, which can create bitterness in the final cup. A quality burr grinder will not produce dust.

Burr grinders are also great because they typically include a hopper where the beans are meant to be placed. The whole beans flow down the hopper and collect inside a bin located beneath as they are ground. In this way, the beans are only ground once and aren’t subject to repeated grinding as they are in a blade grinder. A quality, entry-level conical burr grinder will set you back about $80, though the investment you will be making toward better coffee is worth the price.

How to Make Your Kids Learn with the Help of Fun Video Games

Some children find that learning can be boring and parents who have children who perceive education as a bore or a chore sometimes give up on these kids and just let them muck their way to school with this kind of a mindset. If you want your kids to do better at school and to see learning as something that is fun to do, you should try to get them to learn with the help of fun video games (and you can get some recommendations by looking at educational video game reviews). This method of integrating fun into learning is one surefire way for you to get your kids to improve their grades and for you to bond with them as well.

There are a number of educational game developers out there that produce certain video games that your kids will enjoy playing and for them to continue playing these games, they have to answer certain questions about certain subjects for them to proceed. For example, if you are trying to get your child to improve in math, there are math video games that they can only continue playing if they get the answers to certain math questions right. They can be faced with a task that gets them to buy something in the game but for them to complete the purchase, they need to give the right amount in payment or answer how much change they are going to get from such a purchase.

To make them want to answer these questions and to think about the answer, the developers of these educational video games have created these games in such a way that they wouldn’t mind having to come up with the right answer to get them to continue playing and they don’t realize that when they do so, they are actually learning things. This same logic is used in other games like word games, history games and other learning video games that are being made by developers to help children learn things without consciously thinking that learning is boring or is a waste of time.

Understanding Student Loan Rehabilitation

If you have student loans that are in collection, you probably already know how difficult this can be.  Unlike most loans, they cannot be included in a bankruptcy.  In addition to this, the government is very likely to garnish your wages and siege any income tax refunds that you have coming due.  For this reason, student loan default is not something that you can simply ignore.

Fortunately, the government has many plans in place to make it easier for you to pay them.  Before your loan is in default, you may be able to defer the loan or apply to have the loan placed in forbearance.  There are also income based repayment plans that are available.

Once your loan is already in default, the flexibility with some of these programs goes away.  Luckily, you may still be eligible for student loan rehabilitation.

What is Student Loan Rehabilitation?

Student loan rehabilitation is an agreement that you enter into with your student loan provider.  You agree to make 12 monthly payments of a set amount in a timely manner.  In exchange for this, they agree to take the loan out of default and delete the negative credit history associated with the account.  You want to make sure that you get everything in writing up front – some of the collection companies that purchase the accounts will try to avoid removing the negative credit history associated with the account.  Obviously this is not what you want!

How Do You Get into the Program?

To begin the student loan rehabilitation process, you will need to call the lender or collection agency that currently owns you account.  Once you do, let them know that you are interested in rehabilitating the loan.  You may need to speak to someone that works at a level above the first person you speak with who understands the rehabilitation program.  Once you are in communication with the right person, ask them to fax you an agreement in writing.  Then, after 12 months you loan will be back in good standing and you will be well on your way through the credit restoration process.
