Rojales Spain has many different ancient structures which reflect its history. This article will attempt to highlight some of these structures. The Gasparito Wells on were built out of the sandstone mountain in the 1920’s. The two wells were intended to gather the valuable rainwater. Filling up the well with rainwater during rainfall makes water merchants from nearby villages arrive every day to fill up their barrels and containers and sell to the local people from their villages. The west well has now been transformed into a trade fair center.
One of the most interesting features in Rojales is the cave houses which date back to 19th century. As of this day there are four distinct types of cave residences that were conserved, they are located at the sides of hills adjacent the southern part of the town. There are also cave houses that are already maintained and occupied Artisans and craftsman artists. These people are taking over with these remains of the past and using they are using the cave houses as a medium of making a trade fair, shows that relates to the artistry of the craftsmen. For those people who toured in any different place just to see a festival, festivals in this town are notable events. The festivals were practiced in the ancient times of Spain and until now this event is still important to the people.
Being a Christian nation, the cultural spiritual beliefs were inherited way back from its past. The festival is celebrated every June 29 of the year. It is in honor of their patron saint San Pedro (St. Peter). Solemn processional marches, parades, prayers and shows are some events a tourist should not overlook. These types of Christian celebration are made throughout Spain. There are also great festivals in May and October, something a tourist must watch, and these festivals are held all over the Costa Blanca. This May and October festival occasion is to honor Romeria de San Isidro and Virgin of the Rosary. In conclusion, Rojales succeeds in preserving the remains of its culture. A mix of modern and historical lifestyle of this town makes a very significant contribution of its culture.
