If you loved Mickey Mouse as a child, then you will love Disney baby clothing. They are available in all Disney designs, shapes and sizes. However, you also want to appear as a parent who cares about the environment. So you may want to get used clothing from friends and relatives as that is less wasteful and shows you are mindful of blatant consumerism.

Donald Duck, aside from Mickey Mouse, is another popular character you will find in clothing. He is a jolly go-lucky water fowl with sailor clothing. Strangely enough, he wears no pants. He is not quite as smart as the other Disney characters and has a penchant for tantrums. Sometimes the clothing should be separated from the back story of the Disney cartoons. The merchandise can be cuter and possesses less of a message than the animations.

Goofy is a ridiculous Disney character that is a commentary on the yokel American and is quite offensive. Children’s clothing with this Disney cartoon imprint the idea that it is somehow cool to be a big dumb animal. While adult clothing doesn’t reference Goofy directly, you can find his influence shaping other clothing lines. For example, Snoop Dogg has told people in interviews that he identifies with Goofy and that informs his clothing style and attitude. Do you want your child to grow up into a gangsta rapper?

To be fair, most Disney clothing for babies and small children is harmless fare. Few people will read the political and social commentary that went into these Walt Disney creations. However, you cannot be oblivious to it, no matter how cute, as the clothing we wear sends a message.

The best thing to do is to have a balanced approach when buying baby clothing. Select some clothing that makes your child look cute but do not go overboard in the characters.
