Do You Suffer From Tennis Elbow Injuries?

There are many people who have sports related injuries. Some suffer from shin splints; others suffer from tennis elbow (also known as lateral epicondyle). Tennis elbow is a condition that affects the joints tendons and can cause a serious amount of pain for those who have to endure it. Tennis elbow does not only cause pain in the elbow but shooting pains down the arm and towards the wrist to. This can be when you move it too quickly or when you lift something that causes your arm muscles to tense. This can make even lifting a pencil something of a chore and everyday tasks become more and more challenging.

Tennis elbow won’t go away on its own so be sure that at the first signs of pain, that you rest your elbow and give it a good break otherwise you will only make the damage worse. When you feel ready to get back to normal, you can begin to slowly exercise your arm. Start at the shoulder and work your way down to the elbow. When you feel you can move these freely, go onto the wrists and start to see if you can grip things. Tendinitis in elbow is a major injury and can take time to heal. Gripping and lifting is the hardest part of tennis elbow so don’t rush it. Take your time and lift things that are slightly heavier each day. Tennis elbow injuries should be treated with great care and if you feel that you can’t cope on your own then don’t hesitate to get in touch with your doctor. They will be able to prescribe you medicines and also start you off on a course of physiotherapy. If that doesn’t work then there is a last resort option of surgery but very few tennis elbow cases end up in theater.
