The history of dressing table dates back to 18^th century. The popularity of these tables was at peak in the Victorian era. In those days, the tables were huge and occupied much space. As the cost of real estate increased, the size of the homes got smaller, and it became impractical to have such huge item of furniture in the bedroom. Therefore, though these tables offered elegance to the bedroom, its use was limited to people who owned very big houses. Hence, it was considered as an item of luxury. Now, the makers of these tables have realized the practical difficulty and are making these tables as compact as possible.
