Chaise lounge and patio cushions are a difficult choice for many people. We want them to reflect a part of who we are and what we like but also we want to keep them in step with the style of our patio area. We want them to feel and look good and give a good impression in our garden – a tall order! Here are a few steps to help you find perfect chaise lounge cushions for your outdoor furniture.
1. Measure your Chaise Lounge Chairs
Take the exact dimensions of your chairs. Although most of them are a fairly standard size, it’s important that the cushion does not hang over the edges because that is not a good look.
2. Consider How You will Use (Or Abuse) Your Cushion
Will your patio cushions be a permanent outdoor fixture and be exposed to the elements of wind and rain? If so, you will want a more water resistant and sturdy fabric such as those made by Sunbrella. If not, you can go for a cheaper, yet still sturdy fabric such as polyester. If your chaise cushions will be used a lot, look for a strong construction such as double seams and piping. This will make them last a lot longer than cushions with simple stitching.
3. Consider Fabric Colors and Designs
If you have opted for a special outdoor fabric such as Sunbrella, then you will have a limited choice in designs but you will still find patio cushions and fabrics in all colors of the rainbow and you need to choose something that works well with the colors already in your garden. You can pick one main shade or go with a pattern which contains many colors and which probably reflects the mix of colors in your flowers. If you want a restrained feel then more delicate tones like cream, peach and beige will do the job. However, if you want to let your garden thrive in a sunny glow then brighter colors like yellow, blue and red would be a better choice.
